You may well amaze in surprised delight,
A new and fresh insight
Of where gateways will offer to take you.
If open, they seem to issue
A silent invitation ‘Come through’.
If shut, the gateway, especially.
If bolted, banned or blocked,
The barrier seems to hint
At hiding something mysterious.
‘What is beyond us?’
Would now be the question.
What direction would you choose,
Use your time to follow?
The one opening offering certainty
Is the gateway to heaven
As provided by the Lord Jesus.
Make this your life’s focus
And you will hear Him say:
“ ‘I am the way’.” (John 14 v 6)
This is the only way forwards
To heaven, our homeland.
The life and death of Jesus
Provide the perfect way for this,
A true, final and eternal happiness.
All we have to do
Is to pray, asking to believe,
Make progress in faith,
And follow in Jesus’ footsteps.
The Holy Spirit qualifies us
For a friendship with Jesus
By revealing Him as Saviour,
Undoing all our offences
Which distress our Father.
Faith’s purpose is finding that joy
Which is our true happiness amidst holiness.
The Lord Jesus, the living Son of God,
We can ever depend upon.
Push open the gate of faith expectantly,
Confident you will find in Jesus’ friendship
A realistic hope, peace and joy none ending,
The Lord God our Father beckoning you forwards,
Onwards, upwards accompanied by the Spirit.
Faith is no less than finding and relishing
Fantastic adventures when accompanied by Jesus,
The Word of life beyond all strife,
The offering of true love direct from above.
Open the gate, go in upon the pathway,
Regularly pray and wait for the Lord God’s reply.
This might not be exactly what you expected,
Or even asked for or think you wanted.
But whatever is God’s reply
He, as a Trinity, Father, Son and Spirit all holy,
Definitely know and will show
What is best for us now,
In this test we call ‘Life’.
Strife possibly will still occur,
But you will find a way through this
When accompanied by the Holy Spirit,
Who directs us by the living presence of Jesus.
Fear, doubt, anxiety, iniquity, any adversity,
Are all lovingly and most mercifully
Dealt with by the Almighty Trinity,
Because you pushed open the gate of faith
To walk and talk with Jesus.
His is the best Friendship you will ever, ever know and enjoy,
Always taking you forwards throughout life
Until one day, we know not how far away,
We enter the eternal experience, heaven
To enjoy as fully as can be, the company of the Trinity.
But it is a long journey there,
So best start travelling home immediately.
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good; His mercy is for everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” Amen. (Psalm 100 v 4, 5)
